statement

I am a retired Biology teacher, accomplished violinist and avid photographer. I see the natural world as reality; the artificial world that humans inhabit is a mental creation and an illusion. In my photographs, I try to convey the beauty and grandeur of that awesome reality. Nature is the ultimate artist.

I have traveled to some of the more remote parts of the world, including Galápagos, Iceland, Greenland, and Nunavut. The inhabitants of those regions appreciate the fact that people are part of their environment and utterly dependent upon it. We must never lose sight of this or be seduced by the assumption that we can be masters of the environment. If we succumb to such hubris, it will be our downfall.
